If you’ve been wondering where I’ve been, well, the short answer is I’ve been writing at Filipinovoices.com:
Reciprocity
My wife, a travel agent, got fuming mad at a “friend” last weekend. Her “friend” inquired regarding passport renewal application with a caveat: “friend’s” birth certificate has some problems, preventing her from obtaining one from the NSO. My wife [...]

I went to the Coke event with a tripod, not a digicam
June 29th, 2008 · 13 Comments
I had fun at last Friday’s Buhay Coke ng Blogger’s event at Taste Asia in SM Mall of Asia. It was too bad that I wasn’t able to bring a digicam to the event.
Ironically, I was lugging a tripod I had bought earlier that night.
I had fun hanging out with Tess, her friend Aiyleen, and [...]

Sidney Snoeck of My Sari Sari Store is signing off
May 4th, 2008 · 1 Comment
Sidney Snoeck, author of my favorite photo blog, My Sari Sari Store, announced that he is signing off due to some unexpected personal circumstances.
I have been viewing My Sari Sari Store regularly for the past three years and to say that his photos inspired me is but an understatement. His style is a major influence [...]

I’ve just received a death threat from a Navitaire employee
April 24th, 2008 · 25 Comments
I’ve just received a death threat from a guy allegedly named Stevenson Salvador:
Highlighted text roughly translates to “stop this if you want to stay alive where you’re going”
From above, his email address is stevenson.salvador@linksys.com. His IP address is 66.114.104.164
UPDATE 1: I find it rather sad that the IP address above resolves to a Navitaire DNS [...]
Where to draw the anonimity line
March 5th, 2008 · No Comments
Recently I’ve come across some commercials on Youtube from the US that illustrate the risk of posting personal information and photos in the internet. This is particularly relevant in there where sexual predation via the internet had become a real problem in the late 90s, early 2000s.
I had the same quandary when my wife put [...]

Marvinsweb doubles their hosting packages!
March 4th, 2008 · No Comments
Woopee!
One problem I’ve had of late is that I’ve run out of hosting space. I swiftly filled up my 100MB (Silver package) hosting on Marvinsweb.
I was pleasantly surprised when I read this entry on Marvinsweb’s blog. I IMed their help desk over Yahoo! Messenger, asking them when it will be implemented, and they told me [...]

Profundity Addiction

Have you been blogging for a while? Maybe some of you have, and most of you probably would have experienced writer’s block at one point or another.
But the scarcity of my posts lately point to a whole different sort of problem. See, I have a whole set of things in my mind that I want [...]

Problems of context and the oversensitivity of the Desperate
October 3rd, 2007 · 27 Comments
This morning, Reynz and I were talking over GTalk about the Desperate Housewives brouhaha when the topic led me to ask about the Bikolano term “uragon”.
Over the comments at the blog post linked above, I saw her say something about being called “uragon” as an insult when I had the impression that it had a [...]

The god of realpolitik
September 25th, 2007 · 7 Comments
The news this past week amuses me, in the sense that it appears that god (or at least, as interpreted by man) in all forms and religions has been too getting too many headlines in different parts of the world for different reasons — enough perhaps for atheists to take notice. And be amused as [...]
