I’ve just received a death threat from a Navitaire employee

April 24th, 2008 · 25 Comments

I’ve just received a death threat from a guy allegedly named Stevenson Salvador:

Death threat from a certain Stevenson Salvador

Highlighted text roughly translates to “stop this if you want to stay alive where you’re going”

From above, his email address is stevenson.salvador@linksys.com. His IP address is 66.114.104.164

UPDATE 1: I find it rather sad that the IP address above resolves to a Navitaire DNS server (as per the first comment below).

From http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/ipall.ch?domain=66.114.104.164

IP address: 66.114.104.164
Reverse DNS: slcinternet.navitaire.com.
Reverse DNS authenticity: [Could be forged: hostname slcinternet.navitaire.com. does not exist]
ASN: 18945
ASN Name: OMTEK
IP range connectivity: 3
Registrar (per ASN): ARIN
Country (per IP registrar): US [United States]
Country Currency: USD [United States Dollars]
Country IP Range: 66.114.0.0 to 66.114.255.255
Country fraud profile: Normal
City (per outside source): Salt Lake City, Utah
Country (per outside source): US [United States]
Private (internal) IP? No
IP address registrar: whois.arin.net
Known Proxy? No
Link for WHOIS: 66.114.104.164

I’m now considering what actions, legal or otherwise, I will take from this point onward.

UPDATE 2: Napakasakit, Kuya Eddie? Kaya ba nagcomment ka ng ganito?

Next time, keep your mouth shut if you have nothing intelligent to say. Also, please think twice before you give advice like this. Remember, you’re not talking to a student project. It’s Accenture. I completely believe that every thing you said was done but a project is not just about the software. Read, read, read, and don’t think you know everything. People who knows a little, talk like crazy. People who knows a lot… they read, think, and re-think before something comes out of their mouth.

This way, there will be no “death-threats” if I should even call it a threat. :D But if it is, do you think it’s okay to risk it? Your life inexchange for your stupid comments? I don’t think so.

I just think you’re finding a way out of your stupidity by diverting the topic from what you are saying into something else. That Salvador made more sense to me — it’s called common sense. A sense that you don’t have but pretend to have by using jargons like RAID and whatever.

Peace. Just my 2 cents. Just keep out of fights, okay? Shut up.

I can’t believe how “peace” and “shut up” could go on one line. Why do I have a feeling that that sentence was intended to be a veiled threat?

Let’s look at his IP address: 74.63.84.61

IP address: 74.63.84.61
Reverse DNS:
Reverse DNS authenticity: [Could be forged: hostname does not exist]
ASN: 0
ASN Name: IANA-RSVD-0
IP range connectivity: 0
Registrar (per ASN): Unknown
Country (per IP registrar): US [United States]
Country Currency: USD [United States Dollars]
Country IP Range: 74.63.64.0 to 74.63.95.255
Country fraud profile: Normal
City (per outside source): Chicago, Illinois
Country (per outside source): US [United States]
Private (internal) IP? No
IP address registrar: whois.arin.net
Known Proxy? No
Link for WHOIS: 74.63.84.61

Hmmm, taga-Chicago nga kaya? I wonder.

I think death threats is what cowardly people resort to when they only want to “scare” you. If they really want to kill you, they would have already done that now. Ahahaha. I don’t know if that should comfort you. :-p

I think you need to go to the Police. Seriously, this death threat is substantial evidence… go to the police right away…

One reason why I don’t want to get jobs like that anymore. =) Let’s build social networks na lang. Would be fun pa.

suddenserenity: I do not think this is a case of Navitaire losing control of its people because, honestly, this is beyond the responsibility of Navitaire.

lattex: I agree that the person who commented here went over the line. I apologize for that.

to the one who made this comment: Please be wary that your comments are taken as a reflection of Navitaire and all of us who work here (assuming that you indeed work with us). You may think that it is noble that you are “defending” our company but it is actually putting us in a bad light.

    Hi guys,

    Thanks for the support.

I’ve gotten in touch with lawyer friends to find out what steps I could take with regards to this situation.

At the least, all I would say is that Navitaire would hear from me (or my lawyer) soon regarding this issue.

It’s funny how Stevenson Salvador turned to death threats when he ran out of logical explanations. Don’t you know death threats are illegal?

  • 13 Lei // Apr 24, 2008 at 9:13 pm

Just had to comment to your blog entry :) Last February kasi I received a threat thru SMS naman. I didn’t know what to do… Hmpt! Tapos sa Globe naman sabi, they will contact us once makapick up sila ng activity dun sa number na yun. As precaution na rin I informed yung HR ng company namin as well as my project manager para just in case lang :D Swerte ka pa kasi may trace na iniwan yung nagthreat sayo kaya meron ka pwedeng gawin ako wala na talaga… Inisip ko na lang na intention nya lang sirain ang Valentine’s Day ko kasi nagtext sya on the eve ng Valentine’s Day :p Inggit lang siguro yon dahil ako may makakadate sya wala :) Good luck and I hope wala naman mangyari sayo and to your loved ones na rin :D

You think I’m not serious here, huh?

You wanna piece of me? COME AND GET ME instead of hiding like a sissy behind some bogus name.

  • 16 erwin // Apr 24, 2008 at 10:54 pm

walang sense kung walang sense… bottom line, this has gone too far. lumalala lang to sa bawat sinasabi mo! tigilan mo na para tapos na, be the first to stop, it’s the right way. Not to put the Lord’s name in vain… it’s the Christian way.

  • 17 Jon Limjap // Apr 24, 2008 at 11:00 pm

    erwin,

The Christian way? The Christian way was that Christ was Crucified because He was speaking of the Truth. Is it Navitaire being Crucified here? I don’t think so.

  • 18 erwin // Apr 24, 2008 at 11:06 pm

wag masyado palakihin hindi talaga worth it pre…

This has already become too personal and too close for comfort.

Can’t these people be just “men” enough and accept accountability? Rather than pose death threats. It does not accomplish anything.

  • 20 Jon Limjap // Apr 24, 2008 at 11:25 pm

Because the missus has spoken, I have decided to close the comment threads for this post and the previous one.

I still find it both sad and amusing: sad at the level of accountability and responsibility that some (apparently) Navitaire employees have exhibited in their responses, and amusing at how such a small and valid complaint have become a rabid barking / chest thumping spree.

I admit that the way by which I express my opinions is rather difficult to digest, and I will apologize for that. However, just as bomb threats are never taken lightly in airports even if they are borne out of genuine humor, threats to my life, even those blurted out of frustration, will not be taken lightly either.

I believe I have attracted enough attention to the issues at hand already, and thus, my work is done.

    For now.

I am closing the comments to this post as well.
