Pamie and the Jollibee Backlash

February 2nd, 2006 · 5 Comments

Two weeks ago, American writer Pamela Ribon wrote about her Jollibee experience in her blog. Soon, she was flooded in a never-before seen outpouring of Filipino sentiment (mostly in defense of Jollibee) in her site forum, a story better told by caffeinesparks here.

I never realized that it would be this big. I guess it goes to show just how many people take the role that Jollibee played in their lives and their culture seriously, even if a lot of them are already abroad.

If Tony Tancaktiong could see this… I could just imagine that big smile in the poster where he’s holding that trophy for some award.

Nope, Pamie has not taken me up on it and I’m kind of glad. I was pretty angry when Jomz sent that link to our family egroup. Low-class talaga siya. Yep, he’s my “little” cousin–of our generation I’m Apo #1 and he’s Apo #2.

The award that he won was “Ernst & Young WORLD Entrepreneur Of The Year.” He’s the 2nd asian to win. What’s even more amazing is that he was the Philippines’ first representative.

Serves you people right for bashing America every chance you get. Now you get bashed by an insignificant blogger and your whole nation is in an uproar. At least we can take it and if any of our fastfood companies go out if business we’ll survive. But if DoggyBee goes under it’s another nail in your coffin.

^^if that’s how you project the image of a ‘typical American’, then it only validates the uproar pamie got.

Oh dammnit, you remind me of someone, a person who’s supposed to be all-American but can’t get his Filipino blood out of his veins. Ironically he frequents forum boards only to proclaim how much of losers Filipinos are.

If you really think of us as losers, why even read our blogs?
