(Newbie stranger here.) Well, a lot of Filipino (and non-American) readers of Pamie’s blog entry on Jollibee didn’t find anything hilarious or amusing about it. My friends told me not to take it seriously, but I kind of agree – denigrating a food’s culture (including their fastfood) is tantamount to insulting the people. So I wrote her my response. Oh well.

And yes I hate everyone who tries to ride on Pacquiao’s populatrity.

As for the sponsors however, it’s all fine for me; they pay and support Pacman. It’s all good business. Hell, Manny admits to be the one who personally pitched those sponsorship patches on his shorts (worth 5 million pesos in all) to those sponsors.

Hehehe. Oh yes, it isn’t the be all and end all of culinary satisfaction, hence the industry it’s in: fast food. My Uncle who’s a staunch defender of the Bee did comment on the pictures of the spaghetti (it did look like it was man-handled). Frootjoos in pamie’s forum is my 1st cousin who lives in the US; and she’s been to the Jollibee pamie visited — BACK when it had a “C” rating, so she’s seen it improve from “C” to “A”.

Pamie ticked me off just because what they did albeit “adventurous”, was at times heading toward ridiculing our taste and the whole image of Jollibee as a Filipino fast-food place. I mean, we don’t go to Mcdonald’s and go playing with their cholesterol-rich food, or medicine-tasting Chicken.

My 2 cents.

In one way or another Pamie’s right: sometimes the quality of Jollibee is dismal. I didn’t grow up thinking that Jollibee is the be all and end all of culinary satisfaction. But of course her other complaints like, palabok looking like shit, didn’t mean that we should agree with her opinion that palabok tasted like shit.

Kudos to her however, for admitting that she felt like an “Ugly American”, and even called herself that. She is. Good thing she knows.

why didn’t you reply to that link i sent to the mailing list, then? hehehe. some people are getting their knickers in knots just to diss, again “The Bee”, and give props to Ronald. Tsk.

Oh and do look up the dispute between Apple Computer and the band The Postal Service regarding the Apple-Intel ad which really looks like a shot-for-shot remake/repack of The Postal Service’s music video. Hmmm..Something up along the line of that Orange and Lemons rip-off thing a few months back.
