The Big Good News today is of course, Manny Pacquiao’s 10th round KO over Erik Morales. El Terible can finally be honest about the power of the Pacman Punch: something he refused to give credence to in their March 2005 fight.
I wouldn’t call Morales a complete loser however; at least he’s not a sore one. After the belt has been given to Pacquiao, El Terible approached him and gave him a congratulatory hug. Something that takes a lot of humility (and balls). Kudos to you, El Terible: that was a very honorable thing to do.
So who are the real losers? Here they are, in no given order:
- Ayala Center - I was there from 11 ’til 1 PM, and the place was, by Sunday afternoon standards, practically deserted. I mean, 3 people having lunch at the Yellow Cab at G1 when we couldn’t get a seat for at least 15 minutes on any other Sunday. McDonalds and Jollibee were both only half-filled.
- Bombo Radyo - 102.7 Star FM Bombo Radyo Philippines was almost a winner: ALL the shops that I entered in Ayala Center, whether catering to the A-B or C-D classes, were tuned in to them. Yes, even friggin’ Rustan’s. The problem is their broadcast of the Pacquiao fight was being commentated by Congressman Monico Fuentebella, who, aside from being a staunch supporter of Manny Pacquaio, knows nothing about boxing terms and couldn’t explain what was actually happening. He was also quite unobjective, and never gave credence to Morales’ moves.
- PGMA - Gloria Macapagal Arroyo once more rode on Pacquaio’s victory by making sure that her cellphone conversation with Pacquaio goes televised. That’s fine though: I’m sure nobody’s wiretapping her talk with Pacman. She’s still a loser though, for always riding on Pacman’s popularity.
- Solar Sports - For printing an ad that said their telecast of the Pacquaio-Morales fight would have no commercial breaks. You f_ing LIARS should go to hell!
- ABS-CBN - In as much as I root for Pacquiao in boxing, I hate it when Star Records makes people who shouldn’t sing sing. Pacman has an album through them. Great. Can we get rid of it the soonest possible time so that Pacman won’t be able to embarass himself, especially now that he had a great victory?
Congratulations, Manny Pacquiao!
And speaking of Jollibee…
I found a very interesting link of an American girl trying it out in California, here.
As for dieting:
While going on weight loss diet some people are complete winners and some are complete losers. It’s not because they can’t do a diet; it’s because they don’t do proper diet which is meant for them according to their blood group, weight and height. Like soup diet is not meant for every one; this diet is good for extremely fat people who want to lose lots of weight. Similarly grapefruit diet is good for bulky people who want to lose weight slowly and steadily.

why didn’t you reply to that link i sent to the mailing list, then? hehehe. some people are getting their knickers in knots just to diss, again “The Bee”, and give props to Ronald. Tsk.
Oh and do look up the dispute between Apple Computer and the band The Postal Service regarding the Apple-Intel ad which really looks like a shot-for-shot remake/repack of The Postal Service’s music video. Hmmm..Something up along the line of that Orange and Lemons rip-off thing a few months back.

Hehe, sorry tsong. I forgot to. I replied in her forum instead.
In one way or another Pamie’s right: sometimes the quality of Jollibee is dismal. I didn’t grow up thinking that Jollibee is the be all and end all of culinary satisfaction. But of course her other complaints like, palabok looking like shit, didn’t mean that we should agree with her opinion that palabok tasted like shit.
Kudos to her however, for admitting that she felt like an “Ugly American”, and even called herself that. She is. Good thing she knows.

Hehehe. Oh yes, it isn’t the be all and end all of culinary satisfaction, hence the industry it’s in: fast food. My Uncle who’s a staunch defender of the Bee did comment on the pictures of the spaghetti (it did look like it was man-handled). Frootjoos in pamie’s forum is my 1st cousin who lives in the US; and she’s been to the Jollibee pamie visited — BACK when it had a “C” rating, so she’s seen it improve from “C” to “A”.
Pamie ticked me off just because what they did albeit “adventurous”, was at times heading toward ridiculing our taste and the whole image of Jollibee as a Filipino fast-food place. I mean, we don’t go to Mcdonald’s and go playing with their cholesterol-rich food, or medicine-tasting Chicken.
My 2 cents.

Hello,
I sent you an e-mail to your gmail account.
About Pacquiao: It isn’t just GMA riding on Pacquiao’s popularity. Don’t you just hate those politicians and even advertisers taking advantage of the guy? Sheez.

fleeb,
Sorry I didn’t get your email
Try resending it: jonlimjap at gmail dot com
And yes I hate everyone who tries to ride on Pacquiao’s populatrity.
As for the sponsors however, it’s all fine for me; they pay and support Pacman. It’s all good business. Hell, Manny admits to be the one who personally pitched those sponsorship patches on his shorts (worth 5 million pesos in all) to those sponsors.

I did sent it to that specific email address. Bulk? I sent the same copy again.

(Newbie stranger here.) Well, a lot of Filipino (and non-American) readers of Pamie’s blog entry on Jollibee didn’t find anything hilarious or amusing about it. My friends told me not to take it seriously, but I kind of agree - denigrating a food’s culture (including their fastfood) is tantamount to insulting the people. So I wrote her my response. Oh well.
