If some of you would remember my post about it, Lolo Enrique is the elderly man whose foot I ran over with the pick-up truck’s front tire last November. That happened merely a month and a half after he lost his dearest wife.
Last Saturday, yet another unfortunate event struck Lolo Enrique and his family. An electric fan overheated at the upper floor of the old building they’re staying at, setting it on fire. With the men of the family aside from Lolo Enrique out selling taho, the women brought out what they could. All they were able to save were clothes that were in light plastic closets. They are now staying at a kind neighbor’s garage area.
The first thought that came into my mind was a question: “Lord, why are you doing this to Lolo Enrique?”
What’s sustaining them right now are the usual barangay/politiko donations of groceries to fire victims. My father was kind enough to shop some groceries for them himself. My wife also gave them some old clothes. But of course those things could only help so much.
Please offer your prayers for him and for his family. If you wish to go beyond that, however, you may email me at jonlimjap -at- gmail -d0t- c0m.

I was asking the same question while I was reading about Lolo Enrique (I remember your earlier post) but age has taught me to always answer my own question; thus, there are some things that are beyond our understanding. But in God’s own time, Lolo Enrique will reap his reward.
Much as we want to, we cannot help everybody. At this time, there is nothing much we can do but pray that Lolo Enrique and his family be blessed with fortitude.
Bless you and your family, Jon, for keeping in touch with Lolo Enrique and his family.

According to the late pope, God let bad things happen, but he is not happy with it. Don’t blame God for it. He gave us freewill, that’s why.

I guess all I have to do is read the Book of Job and smirk.
But then again… me running over his foot was neither his free will nor mine. Neither was his wife passing away… neither was the fire.
Which brings us back to the Book of Job.
I guess I’ll never figure out the reason.
