I watched TV Patrol World last night and saw a story about the attempt at setting the record for the World’s Longest Buffet in Eastwood, Libis. My wife actually invited me to go there since one of her officemates offered to shoulder half of the 350 peso bill (birthday blowout, apparently) but I declined. I and my wife shopped at Divisoria that day instead.
I’m glad we didn’t go. Though I’m sure the crowd at Eastwood smelled a little better than that in Divisoria on a windy late afternoon, the story last night showed several irate people demanding their money back as they were not able to get any food at all. Some bloggers who were there described the place as more akin to a refugee camp than anything else:

Actually we (mexicali) were one of the restaurants asked to participate. They ordered an X amount of food, then asked us to give them a 50% discount. Were they crazy? They said they didn’t get sponsors and were only selling 2500-3000 tickets. We gave them a 15% discount. they cut the amount they ordered in half. They didn’t tell us they oversold tickets. I heard they sold 6-8000 tickets and/or they didn’t stop busloads of people (without tickets) from coming in. No security system, no system period. We wanted to send more food but no one was around to give us the go-signal til later on. We didn’t want them to tell us the next day that they didn’t authorize us to make more food. In fact they haven’t even paid us yet. What a disaster… I sort of pity them but if only they had planned better …
