Rarely have I disapproved of the La Salle brothers’ actions. However this would be an exception.
Apparently, Brother Armin Luistro, President of the De La Salle University System, was responsible for uniting the opposition when things were starting to go awry for their campaign for impeachment. When the opposition staged its spoiled-brat-like tantrum earlier this week, Brother Armin was the one who contacted various opposition leaders like Former President Corazon Aquino, Party-list Representative Teodoro Casiño, and others to meet up at La Salle Greenhills and consolidate their actions.
It saddens me though I’m not pro-Gloria (hell, I want her to be impeached, with the 2nd or 3rd complaint, if only they were filed before Lozano filed his), because I don’t think any of those in the opposition have a real viable alternative to the situation. Although they have stated that they want a De Castro led coalition government, I could only smirk at the sincerity of that statement, and I fear that they want De Castro there because he’s perceived to be much weaker and much easier to sway to their liking.
What saddens me more is that I believe that Bro. Luistro is sincere in his efforts, that he merely wants the impeachment to prosper and Gloria be tried. However I’m not sure if he’s just turning a blind eye on the fact that those who will be in political favor if GMA is indeed impeached are no different from her.
Of what worth is it to find the truth if those who are promoting it are two-faced usurpers? It’s simply not worth uniting the opposition.
On another note, the La Salle Brothers’ actions are just another sign that individual groups within the Roman Catholic Church miss the uniting power of Jaime Cardinal Sin. Then, it was Sin who decided which side to support and what action to take, and all these individual Church groups followed suit. With Archbishop Gaudencio Rosales keeping mum about the issue following the Vatican’s advice to keep the Church’s hands off politics (which I commend), individual groups within the Roman Catholic Church are now idly squirming in their seats, unsure as to what action to take given the absence of its most influential political leader.

Kasi nga, pag si Noli na, mas madaling sipain ito kaysa kay GMA. Smooth sailing na sila. You’re corect in questioning the sincerity of the oppositions. How about their intelligence?

Bravo Jon! I admire people who can stand up and call a spade a spade even if it’s against your alma mater. Your school should be proud of you. I always point out to my students that it is NOT being disloyal to your alma mater when you speak out against your school administrators - separate the administrators from the school, like we are still proud to be Pinoy even if we don’t like GMA’s or Erap’s or Marcos’ government.
As for Bro. Luistro, sometimes I can’t help thinking that something must have blinded him so that he can’t see that these people in the opposition are just as dangerous as Gloria. Do we have to wait till these bandits get inside our houses before we lock the gates? I hate to have to think that that “something” that must have clouded Bro. Luistro’s vision is the dream of having his own name etched in history. And don’t you tell me that this does not cross his mind. My foot!
PS I mentioned you in my post today - the Jon Limjap trick … find out what it is although it’s about a topic not related to this one. And I’ll do a post about this post later, okay?

i was listening to bro. armin on the radio. he was saying that they don’t have a plan. don’t have an agenda. all these groups just want tita gloria to go. a lot of us do. but then, whats after that? all these same groups banded together to oust erap. none of them had an agenda back then except to get gma to the palace. five years after, we want her out. it’ll be the same banana all over again, and even more dangerous now that no one has a plan or a leader with a plan for whats next. as soon as the opposition figures that out, people will start believing in them and pgma will be out of the palace.
