Last week, the International Plastic Modelers Society of the Philippines - Bert Anido held the TrumpEx 2005 scale model exhibit held at SM Megamall’s Cyberzone. Scale model kits maker Trumpeter as well as Lil’s Hobby Shop sponsored this event, where members of IPMS-BA showed off their modelling skills with the Trumpeter and Mini Hobby Models line of kits.
Over 140 kits were featured, most of which were made by members of IPMS-BA.

My entry to this exhibit is the Mini Hobby Models 1:72 Su-47 Berkut, an experimental plane of the Russian Air Force.:

If you think this post is completely devoid of politics, think again:

Yup, that’s Roilo Golez, who happens to love the stuff, with 2 of his grandchildren, along with IPMS Philippines officers and the managers of Trumpeter Models who came all the way from Macau.

And finally, the “Air Force” I have in my bedroom:
The “Air Force” is growing one kit per year right now, but I might make another kit for the IPMS-BA National Model Making Competition slated for December 1.
Some more pics of my “Air Force”:

Jon, my younger brother is an avid plastic modeller and that’s why I’m familiar with Lil’s Hobby Shop. I practically grew up with his airplanes invading all the extra space we had in our room. I’m sure he’d be happy to see your pictures here (kaya lang, “low tech” sya when it comes to computers, hindi mahilig sa internet).

Naku bugs, sabihin mo sa younger brother mo he’s missing on A LOT.
Our club (IPMS-BA) almost tripled its membership in two years (from a little over 50 in 2003 to around 150 today) because of the internet.
It’s also made some “oldies” fond of the internet because of the way the internet has helped our hobby. The hobby was practically transformed. Dati, we’re at the mercy of expensive books and references to be able to learn the proper techniques in building models. Today the material is just a Google’s search away.
I suggest you urge your brother to visit our website (http://www.ipmsphilippines.com) and our forumboards (http://ipmsphilippines.proboards32.com/index.cgi) so that he’d be able to see and read the discussions that are making our hobby more than alive.
Also, do tell him that we’re going to have our National Competition in December.
Hope you showed him the pictures.

Talaga? Thanks Jon. I’ll tell him. I’m sure he’ll be excited.
