Ever tried Googling your own name? I did, and I was pleasantly surprised with some of the results.
First, Googling my real name revealed some familiar stuff:
- My contribution to Aircraft Resource Center, a popular aircraft reference site for scale model enthusiasts
- A donation I made for DLSU
Then next, the “pleasantly surprising” results. I’m proud to say that my great great grandfather (my namesake) has had great contributions to Philippine history:
- He was arrested along with Telesforo Chudian and other members of the Chinese community in 1896 on charges of being a filibustero, which he was
- An account on Felipe Calderon’s memoirs on the Philippine Revolution on Bambi Harper’s column in the Inquirer
- Hell, I never even imagined that my great great grandfather got orders from Emilio Aguinaldo to organize the resistance within the old Bilibid prison during the Phil-American war, as implied in this online history book
As a bonus, apparently, his brother Mariano was actually a delegate in the Malolos Congress according to this list. In fact, Mariano was one of the people shown at the end credits of “Mano Po” (the first of the installment) that featured Chinese-Filipinos who played a prominent part in Philippine History.
Now they’re part of the reason that I can’t just leave the country. Call me a sentimental schmuck for that — but that’s just me.

Indeed I was surprised. I wondered why my Sibika teacher took great interest in my name (but never revealed why) back when I was in grade 3. Now I know.
Thanks for dropping by.
